San Francisco is a place known for fog. It rolls in predictably, blanketing the city and brings life to the surrounding hills. In 2014, my wife and I took a vacation to drive Highway One, a trip we do annually where we start in San Rafael and end in Los Angela’s, stopping to visit friends and family along the way.
On our first day we stopped by Hawk Hill, an iconic view point of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco in Marin County. It’s a great place for a picnic and to spend the afternoon quietly perched above the bustling city below. Our picnic turned into spending the better part of the day here watching the fog blanket the bridge, listening to the barges blowing their horns far below in the bay as the came to port.
